A woman is not born only once

Womanhood is continually born and transformed.
It is not only about biological changes, but also about the entire spectrum of emotions, the experience of one’s own body, and the evolving relationship with the world around us. Womanhood does not begin with the first menstruation, nor does it end with menopause. Each of these moments is another rite of passage.

In dialogue with my daughters, we are trying to create our own language of rituals, accompanying one another through the successive transitions in our lives.

The project is created in dialogue with my daughters. Together, we are trying to find a contemporary language for women’s rites of passage, accompanying one another through the changes we experience.

For me, hair is a symbol of strength and identity, intertwining the experiences of many generations of women. Water is a metaphor for birth and purification. Light and shadow emphasize the changes that take place throughout a woman’s life.

They highlight the ambiguity inherent in successive stages of transition and self-discovery, with all their fears and uncertainties, especially during adolescence and menopause. They also speak of forming a new relationship with one’s body, which is constantly undergoing transformation.

Menopause, which initially felt like a profound threshold experience, became an opportunity to rediscover myself. It gave me autonomy and a strength rooted in experience.

It is a moment when the body stops asking about social expectations and begins to speak in its own voice. For me, this is why menopause is a ritual of returning to oneself.

Today, I feel like a guide for my daughters.

I accompany them on their journeys with attentiveness and care, trying to give meaning to their rites of passage. I believe that it is precisely within this intergenerational relationship that a space emerges for building a conscious and supportive sense of womanhood.
